Mini workshops will be offered throughout the year at Geologismi, be sure to check the program every month. Usually, these are two/three-hour workshops, perfect for beginners who want to play with clay and make objects that are honest and spontaneous.
We usually give just some suggestions as starting point to freely explore an idea or object.
This particular workshop is about plates.
The Italian word for plate, piatto, holds different meanings. It can be a general smooth, flat, relatively thin, rigid body of uniform thickness. More specifically, it indicates a shallow, usually circular dish made of porcelain, earthenware, glass, etc, on which food is served or from which food is eaten. But it can also be used as an adjective to describe something lacking interest or excitement, dull.
In this workshop we invite you to defy labels and definitions of objects, in order to create something that really matters to you, not at all monotonous or dull.
In particular you will experiment with different techniques and make two plates that will bring some excitement on your table.
